In a short three years time, Chicago based Still Music is now established as one of the most influential and recognized deep house, techno and nu-jazz label worldwide.

Created by Frenchman Jerome Derradji, Still Music is at the forefront of the worldwide electronic music scene.

Its music - being regularly reviewed by magazines such as BPM, XLR8R, Straight No Chaser, Groove and De:bug – has been constantly hammered and supported by heavyweights like Laurent Garnier, Carl craig, Theo Parrish, Jazzanova, Ron Trent, Ame, Dixon, Charles Webster, Rainer Truby, Michael Reinboth, Mr Scruff, Aaron Ross, Gilles Peterson, Patrick Forge, Osunlade and many others.

With an undiscriminating roster of artists that includes Amp Fiddler, Carl Craig, Patchworks, Jazzanova, Marcus Worgull, Markus Enochson, Paul Randolph, Gerald Mitchell (of UR fame), Isoul8, Phil Asher, Irfan , Grupo X, Rick “The Godson” Wilhite, Malik Pittman and many more; this year Still Music is expanding to new frontiers with the launch of its first official division: PAST DUE – a label dedicated to reissues of ultra rare and uber cool disco from the Midwest with some contemporary remixes by Charles Webster, Prins Thomas, Jazzanova with Henrik Schartz, Patchworks, Phil Asher, Tokyo Black Star and a lot more...

When Slip N Slide asked Jerome Derradji to compile and mix the most famous Still Music releases it wasn’t so much a surprise as it’s releases have been featured on countless prestigious major compilations (and even a few TV Shows) worldwide since the inception of the label.

Nevertheless, it is the first time that Still Music presents a thorough compilation of it’s catalogue and it was definitely worth the wait.

Beautifully packaged, “ The Sound Of Still Music [Chicago]” includes 2 CDs and 24 tracks compiled by Jerome Derradji – he also mixed the first CD unsing Ableton Live.

Both discs feature a wide range of styles to appeal to not just DJs but to make it a very enjoyable hi-fi experience. The album also features remixes from key DJs & Producers in dance music such as Ron Trent, Isoul8, Jimpster, Markus Enochson, Phil Asher/Restless Soul etc… and also a few unreleased stunning cuts.

The exclusive super dual CD packaging features original photos from the windy city of Chicago, where the label’s musical inspirations come from.

To support this release, Jerome Derradji will be touring worldwide in cities like London, Manchester, Liverpool, Leeds, Paris, Lyon, Stockholm (TBC), Moscow (TBC) and Detroit, Chicago, New York, San Francisco and play at some of the most famous soulful clubs around.

In the US, Jerome Derradji will play with Osunlade in Detroit and with Still Music’s very own Rick “ The Godson” Wilhite in Chicago and New York (February 8th and 9th)

As a DJ, Jerome Derradji has played and promoted countless parties in Chicago, Detroit & Miami with acts like Carl Craig, The 3 Chairs (Moodymann / Theo Parrish / The Godson / Malik Pittman), Amp Fiddler, I:cube, Jimpster, Osunlade, Charles Webster and many others.

His eclectic style is similar to the music released on Still Music: from techno to afro via deep jazz and disco with a strong touch of Detroit House.

Rick Wilhite is a 19 year old veteran in the Detroit electronic music scene.

His collaboration in the 3 Chairs (with Kenny Dixon Jr aka Moodyman, Theo Parrish & Malik Pittman) along with his stunning (but too rare) releases made him one of the most sought after Detroit DJ.

Rick, along with the 3 Chairs, played at countless venues around the world, mostly at the most prestigious clubs and festivals and became a true legend of Detroit electronic music in Japan.

Rick also owns and operate the legendary Vibes New And Rare Music record store in Detroit.

Additionally, Wilhite worked alongside many electronic music pioneers, such as Juan Atkins and Derrick May.

Rick Wilhite’s set are simply unforgettable, his skills paired with his amazing sense of music, are a journey into the deep sounds of Detroit house.
