Bodycode – LIVE – Spectral Sound / Background [Portugal]
Lisbon, Portugal-based Alan Abrahams has earned a lot of attention lately. His albums as Portable for the Background and ~scape imprints have garnered near-universal acclaim for their deft fusion of tribal rhythms and a modern micro-house sensibility. For his first LP as Bodycode, The Conservation of Electric Charge, Abrahams focuses on the more dancefloor-oriented aspects of his style, yielding a gorgeous album born from the belief that the psyche can be unlocked via the body.
Bodycode also came from necessity – while on tour playing club dates, Abrahams was compelled to seek the most engaging sound for that environment. Remarkably adept at its task, Bodycode’s mesmerizing percussive
arrangements and subtle melodic flourishes create an immediately engaging sound that lingers in the mind long after the club has closed.
Kristina Childs – Decibel Festival / Krakt [Seattle]
"I’m not the type to just sit there and listen, I want to be involved," says Kristina Childs. "The first time I heard this music, I knew I wanted to play it." Starting in 1999 with a mixture of house, techno and drum&bass, Childs quickly evolved her style into the eclectic mix of genres she now brings to clubs and parties around the world.
As well as being a guest DJ at many clubs in the Seattle area, Kristina has performed in Frankfurt, Bogotá, Medellin and various major US cities, sharing the stage with such notable artists as John Tejada, Joel Mull, Dan Bell, Mike Grant, Akufen, Minx, Bassnectar, Brian Aneurysm, Lusine, Jeff Samuel, Thomas Fehlmann and Marcus Nicolai. She is a resident of Tost Lounge and Krakt, runs Plasmodium and is the Sponsorship Coordinator for Decibel. Her diligence in the Seattle scene has made her a popular Northwest DJ, combining excellent track selection and mixing skill with the energy and charisma it takes behind the decks to get dance floors moving. She is known primarily as a techno DJ, however you can hear her play everything from ambient to hip-hop, downtempo, electro, disco, new
wave or funk, depending on the venue.
Childs was introduced to electronic music in 1995, but being involved in the punk scene, she remained a closet technohead until her first party in 1998. It was then that she was introduced to deep house, and was sure this music would become a fundamental part of her life. It did, and within a year she was playing parties and after-hours within the Seattle area.
Lately she has found a renewed vision to expand her production skills. "I still love everything about playing records, and I doubt I’ll ever stop," she says, "but now I want to share my own musical interpretations. I love many other genres, and plan to build my skill and do something interesting with it." So her spare time has been spent in the studio, refining her sound and collaborating with other northwest artists. Her debut release was last year in the form of a vocal appearance on the Take compilation.
Kate Simko – Traum / Kupei Musika [Chicago]

With roots in Chicago house and Detroit techno, her tracks maintain a warm, soulful character while embracing deep, elaborate structures.
A versatile DJ, Kate was named one of the Top 10 DJ's in Chicago by XLR8R magazine. With releases on Traum Schallplatten, Antenna International and Kupei Musika, Kate has been remixed by Thomas Brinkmann and Atom Heart and remixed Philip Glass and Aeroc (Geoff White), among others. Gaining attention from labels and DJ's around the world, Kate has performed beside artists such as Monolake, Richie Hawtin, Michael Mayer, Four Tet, Ellen Allien, Matthew Dear, John Tejada, Magda, Swayzak and Ulrich Schnauss and played throughout the
United States, Europe and South America.
Sassmouth – NBFC / Volatl [Chicago]
Wake Up! resident Sassmouth was inspired to DJ in 2002. Her youth, filled with classical training on the viola and live performances as a member of string quartets and punk bands in her home region of the Eastern Washington wasteland, Spokane, prepared her musically for her new role as DJ. She has been fueling bars, lounges, house parties, and morning gatherings in Chicago with her mix of techno, house and electro ever since.
When not headlining events with Punisher, or by herself at Cincinnati's techno night, "Bang" and elsewhere, Sassmouth was honored to warm the decks or share the bill throughout '06 for many of her favorite techno DJ's including, Speedy J, Adam Beyer, Mistress Barbara, Christian Smith, Marco Carola, Neil Landstrumm, Magda,
Mathew Dear, Richie Hawtin, Suburban Knight and Buzz Gorree, Tony Rohr, Dietrich Schoeneman, James Holden, Bryan Zentz, Legowelt, Ryan Elliott, Popkan, Steve Barnes, Justin Long, DJ Shiva, Colin
Zyzkowski, Andy Toth, Rex Sepulveda, Butane, and Barem to name a few.
