After their last event Tech.Tonic, new web publication xbumprobot.com and Chicago upstart Bad Advice Records team up once again to bring you cool aural treats for stimulating summer relief. Twisted disco, sublime techno, bumpin’ house and a touch of electro…Flavor.Ice!

PJ Pooterhoots

Perhaps you first heard of PJ Pooterhoots from his twisted “No Go” EP (Proptronix) which showcased his astounding range--from the seriously twisted electro-break buzzsaw of “Milky Rippers” (featured on James F!@.$%^ Friedman’s acclaimed “Go Commando” mix), to the playfully demented genius of his cover of “Cant’ Go For That,” which featured the delightful vocals of Japanese chanteuse Kanoko from Cinnamon. Or maybe it was from his recent remix of Nutown Project & K.atou. Regardless, the disco maniac behind the masterful moniker makes his Chicago debut with a special LIVE set. PJ Pooterhoot’s “Zombie Pants” EP is set for release this fall…

Nate Manic

Chicago club staple Nate Manic is known for rocking dance floors around Chicago with his distinctive blend of deep, tech and bangin’ house. His skill and versatility is evidenced in his bookings, having opened for DJ Krush, Kaskade, Derrick Carter and Ian Pooley. Manic also headed up the popular Wicker Park lounge night Therapy for over 4 years. Lately, Manic has been focusing on his own productions and remixes for his upstart imprint Bad Advice Records. But his trained ear has also recently yielded a hit release from UK fidget sensation Cheap As Chimps, who’s “Monkey Beats” EP is charting worldwide.

Dani Deahl

Besides being a lovely talent behind the decks, Dani Deahl is an accomplished music journalist, writing locally for Time Out and New City—not to mention serving as House Editor for URB Magazine. Her expertly mixed sets showcase her strong house pedigree and a splash of electro-sheen, which have made her quite the in-demand DJ, with frequent bookings across the US and Mexico.

Duke Shin

Over the past 5 years, Duke Shin’s eclectic selections and heady mixes have landed him besides the likes of M.A.N.D.Y. and Holy Ghost!, as well as at afterparties for Nouvelle Vague and TV On The Radio. Currently, he serves as Clubs Editor for New City, Chicago’s only independently owned alt. weekly. He’s also a frequently contributor to music/lifestyle publication BPM. xbumprobot.com is his new web endeavor, and he’s happy to have resurrected the Writer’s Block showcase, last seen at Lava.
