Noise Floor Crew (Angel Alanis, Local Hero and The Lady Foursquare)
Striz (illmeasures)
with residents Nate Manic & Duke Shin
Bad Advice Records and xbumprobot.com are back again to present the first fully assembled set from Chicago’s all-star bootleggers, Noise Floor Crew—a trio of turntable/production savants comprising of Angel Alanis, Local Hero and the Lady Foursquare. Their reworking of Portishead’s recent opus Third has been landing in blogs, bins and bangin’ sets everywhere. Perhaps their growing success was predestined, considering the pedigree of Noise Floor’s components…
Angel Alanis has been bangin acid-laced tech-house for over a decade, charting globally in 2001 with “Do You Like The Way You Feel When You Shake” (as A2). Never one to sit still, his remixes and productions showcase his ever-expanding range. Meanwhile, Angel’s War Games partner Local Hero has been a steady presence in Chicago’s DJ scene, from his early breakbeat parties to his recent electro-tinged high-energy freak-outs--supplemented by his online presence on the oft-cited Trash Menagerie blog. Lady Foursquare brings her own techo/electro/house touch, as evidenced on her remixes of Joy Division, and her signing to none other than DJ Pierre’s Afro Acid imprint.
Joining them behind the decks is the ever-diverse illmeasures maestro Striz, whose range of funky, chunky house, broken/breaky rhythms and heady selections make him on of Chicago’s most dependable-yet-unpredictable DJs.
Resident/hosts Nate Manic (Bad Advice Records) and Duke Shin (xbumprobot.com) round out this evening engineered to bring the Ill.Noise…
