Over the last few months the VOLATL tm monthly at Sonotheque has gained speed and shows no signs of letting up. To kick off 2009 Volatl celebrates the artistic side of dance music with a performance by one of the very best live electronic music artists on the planet. Berlin-based Bruno Pronsato took the world by storm in 2008; voted by Resident Advisor as one of the Top 10 Albums, Pronsato’s Why Can’t We Be Like Us took the art of experimental dance music to the next level. Meanwhile, Pronsato’s Half Hawaii project on Perlon with Sammie Dee has pushed the envelope of the genre. Whether performing sexy, dark house or programming cutting-edge minimal music, Pronsato has established himself at the forefront of electronic music.
Chicago’s Kate Simko didn’t have a bad year herself, playing her Live PA around the world at clubs like Fabric in London, Weekend in Berlin, and Crobar Buenos Aires. Simko’s releases on Spectral Sound received critical acclaim across the board – look out for more to come in 2009. Kate will be performing a debut interactive Audio-Visual Live performance with visual artist Lavamatic.
